About The Fight Society
History
The story of our club started years ago, under the name of the Bridgwater Martial arts Academy (BMA). Many of the coaches and some of the members are from this original club. Covid came along and the club was passed to new volunteers to run it. Over the years it has changed names and kept going in Bridgwater.
Past members and Matthew Boxall started training and coaching together in various clubs and gyms. Talented young people and parents also got involved and drove the newly named 'The Fight Society' towards their own premises.
In April 2026 an agreement was reached with The Activity Warehouse to take on a space inside their building. Sponsors and funders were found and the space started to take shape. The sponsors are MK Scaffolding Ltd, BecomingRARE, and DogPupPhotography. All local businesses who want to help.
On May 4th the first lessons took place.

People and culture
Our volunteers and members are what make us unique. We have a great team of like-minded people who want to provide the best place to train. Top quality training from experienced coaches, enjoyable lessons that are engaging, while not too serious. All our coaches are enhanced DBS checked, insured and we have first aiders on site, just in case. For more information on our policies click here.
We firmly believe they everyone over 6 years of age should start training in a martial art or boxing. The benefits from the training are incredible with increased flexibility, agility and co-ordination. Your fitness will improve with enhancing muscle tone, strength, endurance, stamina and lower blood pressure. Weight will drop off when the nutrition is working for you alongside the training. Plus, when you are feeling stressed, there is no better workout to release endorphins and combat anxiety.
Helping people achieve and feel part of a group is our aim. We want to see people smashing their demons and making friends. More than anything we want people to be open about their mental health and talk to us, or contact Mental Health in Combat Sports.
